THE POWERFUL STORY OF

Donavon S.

As a single father and sole provider for my young daughter, I was referred to Project Self-Sufficiency by a counselor I was seeing for my anxiety. I am a taxi driver with a flexible schedule that allows me to work 12-hour shifts on the weekend while my daughter stays with extended family, allowing me to be present for her during the week. I am not going to be an absent father, no matter what happens, I am selfpowered to be present and provide for my daughter for the long haul. Without the step-by-step guidance from my Project Self-Sufficiency Advisor, and considering my anxiety, I don’t think I would have even been able to fill out the application for college enrollment or financial aid. My financial goal is to be able to pay for my daughter’s college so she can be successful in life.
